E&S underwriter brings 10+ years of commercial lines expertise to growing East Coast team
December 10, 2025 — XPT Specialty, a leading wholesale broker for commercial and personal insurance, has welcomed Liam Sole to its Commercial Lines Division as Associate Vice President/Senior Underwriter. Sole arrives with more than 11 years of experience in the excess and surplus lines market, where he has honed his skills across a broad spectrum of property and casualty risks.
Sole joins XPT from Bass Underwriters, where he spent his career developing expertise in commercial underwriting. Starting as an Underwriting Assistant in 2014, he steadily advanced through the ranks, first to Junior Underwriter, then to Commercial Underwriter, all while managing a substantial book of business. His deep familiarity with the E&S landscape and hands-on approach to risk evaluation made him a trusted resource for retail partners throughout his tenure.
At XPT, Sole will focus on property and casualty risks with an emphasis on supporting East Coast business, particularly in New York. His areas of specialty include habitational, construction, hotels and motels, restaurants and bars, mixed-use buildings, manufacturing, distributors, and vacant properties.
“Liam’s background is exactly what we look for — someone who has grown within the E&S space and understands the nuances of underwriting complex commercial risks,” said Gregg Guerreiro, Regional EVP. [1] “We’re eager to have him on board as we continue building out our capabilities on the East Coast.”
“XPT Specialty’s reputation for strong market relationships and client-focused service made this an easy decision,” said Sole. “I’m looking forward to collaborating and applying what I’ve learned over the past decade to help our retail partners place business in a market that demands both expertise and creativity.”
